To help improve coronavirus response in the Kingdom, French-owned rubber plantation firm Socfin Cambodia on Monday donated non-contact infrared thermometers to the Mondulkiri provincial public health department in Sen Monorom city.

Since its establishment, supporting public service programmes has been at the heart of the company’s corporate social responsibility engagements. Through the donations, Socfin Cambodia said it aims to demonstrate that, with collective collaboration with the government and private and public sectors, we can serve our community better and overcome struggles together.

Provincial health department director Dr Bun Sour received the medical devices, which he expects to be of use in their efforts to address the current health crisis.

Jef Boedt, general manager of Socfin Cambodia, on Tuesday said as public health services are being provided to combat the pandemic, the company hopes the medical thermometers will help in the detection and tracking of potential COVID-19 cases.

“Socfin Cambodia hopes this will be of aid to the government as it implements preventative measures in mitigating the further spread of the virus within the province,” said Mr Boedt.

The meeting also saw Dr Sour distribute informational materials developed by the Ministry of Health to help Socfin Cambodia’s medical department and management inform and educate its employees and their families about the COVID-19.

In addition to the implementation of awareness-raising initiatives, Dr Sour said the collective action and cooperation of all citizens and relevant actors is necessary to put an end to the pandemic.

“If we join hands and reinforce collective collaboration to combat this global pandemic, we will be able to slow down the surge of COVID-19 cases,” he said, adding that right now, observing good hygiene, social distancing and self-isolation are the best measures to practice in response to the pandemic.
