SAC, opening of the Mally school

16 February 2018

On Thursday 15th February the grand opening of the Mally school in upper Malen took place. It was graced by many dignitaries, the Paramount Chief, Hon. BVS Kebbie, The Chief Executive Officer (President) of the Socfin Group, Dr. Luc Boedt other neighbouring Paramount Chiefs, Socfin Country Director, Socfin General Manager, Chief Administrator of the Pujehun District Council, Deputy Director of Education Pujehun, Section Chiefs, Town Chiefs, Socfin Human Resources Manager, Socfin Construction Manager, Estate Managers and local people from Mally and other villages.

The old school was built of mud bricks and was half fallen down. The structure was demolished and replaced with a 4 classroom new school, head teacher office and store. Photos of the school and children will follow soon.

Guest speakers praised the intervention of Socfin in building a new structure providing assistance to the Ministry of Education for desperately needed facilities. This is one of the 2018 highlights of the Corporate Social Responsibility program in Malen carried out by Socfin and it is anticipated another school will be built in Lower Malen in 2018 which already the planning has began. This is a massive contribution to the community of Mally and neighbouring villages and everyone was joyous and happy at the occasion to know their children have a new facility to learn in.

Pictures below show dignitaries at the high table, school children who will use the facility and cutting the cord for the opening of the school and handing over the keys.
