HSE Awareness is an annual event organized by the HSE department of Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc. This year’s event marked the 4th edition of the program. The Theme of this year’s event was “SAFETY RULES ARE YOUR BEST TOOLS”. The event was scheduled as a week-long event starting with various departmental visits by various teams of the HSE Committee covering topics like: Work at height, Housekeeping, Risk Assessment, Near miss reporting, Spill Management, warehouse and storage safety, Confined space, LOTO, Machine Safety, Fire safety, office safety, hand washing and knife safety, PPE, Tools handling, and Emergency Evacuation. Health awareness campaign was carried out in various Estates by the Medical Team covering topics of Family Planning, HIV/AIDS and Malaria prevention. The Main event saw guests from various ministries, communities and various parastatal. The event covered free medical checkup of Blood pressure and sugar level test, lectures on the team by Ministry of Environment, Labour and Foremost Development Services.

Children from Okomu Staff School did a talk show on the team and children from the Okomu Government School entertained guest with cultural dance. Award was presented by the Managing Director to the cleanest Estate (Ext.1) which was received by Mr. Ajith Kumar, Ext.1 Manager.

The event ended with an awareness campaign to Schools located within the Estate where they were properly lectured on Hand washing technique demonstration and its importance. The children also presented safety talks on various topics. Various souvenirs like bags, T-shirts, stickers, notebooks, face caps; soaps for hand washing were distributed with inscriptions of the event.
