History

Socfin represents more than 100 years of experience and expertise in the field of good tropical agricultural practices, in which sustainability standards have been integrated and intensified over time.

History of our commitment to sustainable development

1909

Creation of the “Société Financière des Caoutchoucs”, Socfin.

2008-2013

Socfin collaborated with the DEG on long-term projects focusing on health and education: intensify HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, for employees and their families, as well as the surrounding communities, in highly affected countries where the Socfin Group operates (DRC, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Nigeria and Liberia).

2011-2015

RSPO certification of the oil palms plantations of Socfindo (Indonesia).

2012

Publication of the first Socfin Group’s sustainability report.

2013

Signing of a partnership with IECD in Cameroon.

2014

Socapalm (Cameroon) is the first oil palms plantation ISO 14001 certified in Central Africa.

2015

On 15 December 2015, the Pujehun district in Sierra Leone, where the SAC plantation is located, was the first of the country’s 14 districts to be declared “Ebola free”.

2017

The Socfin Group publishes its new responsible management policy.

2018

Signing of a MoU between Okomu and Okomu National Park (Nigeria).

Socfin is a founding member of GPNSR.

2019

The Socfin Group obtains a unique membership to extend RSPO certification to its African subsidiaries.

2020

RSPO certification for:

  • Okomu (Nigeria).
  • Safacam (Cameroon).

2021

Revision of the Socfin Group’s responsible management policy.

RSPO certification for:

  • SOGB (Côte d’Ivoire).
  • Eséka, Mbambou and Mbongo sites of Socapalm (Cameroon).
  • Agripalma (Sao Tomé-and-Principe).
  • SAC (Sierra Leone).

2022

RSPO certification for:

  • Edéa and Dibombari sites of Socapalm (Cameroon).
  • PSG (Ghana).

2023

RSPO certification for:

  • Kienké site of Socapalm (Cameroon).
  • Extension 2 site of Okomu (Nigeria).

100% of Socfin Group palm oil mills are RSPO certified.
